TOUR PROGRAM

Day 1, Arrival in Ashgabat 

You will be met by our company representative in Ashgabat airport and transferred to the hotel. Check in “Ak Altyn” 4* hotel. 

Day 2, Ashgabat

Ashgabat city sightseeing tour: visiting of the park and monument of Independence, Arch of Neutrality. Drive to Bagir settlement (15 km. to the west from Ashgabat), visiting of the historical and archaeological site “Ancient Nisa – the Residence of Parthian Kingdom” UNESCO site from 2007. Next visit is the biggest mosque in Central Asia located in Kipchak settlement.  Return to the hotel. Overnight in “Ak Altyn” 4* hotel. (B)

Day 3, Ashgabat – Mary 

Drive to Mary (350 km.). En route to Mary visiting of the ensemble of “Seyitjemaletdin” mosque (15th century “Beauty house”) in Anau and the ancient city Abiverd (14th century). Abiverd was one of the most significant cities of North Khorasan, repeatedly mentioned in written sources, namely from the times of Arab conquest. Historian At-Tabari wrote exact date of Khorasan cities's conquest such as Abiverd, Nisa, Serakhs and Merv by Arabs in 651. Arrival in Mary.  Check in hotel “Margush” 4*. Overnight. (B)

Day 4, Mary – Ancient Merv – Gonurdepe

Drive to Bairamali town (28 km to the east from Mary) to visit the ancient site of Merv, the most important in Turkmenistan and dating back 2500 years with an array of old mosques and citadels. After exploring Merv, having lunch in the local restaurant and visiting the bazaar to stock up on supplies for a desert crossing.  Drive to the archaeological site of Gonur Depe, dating back to the Bronze Age. Around 55 hectares in size, the site comprises of the remains of a fortified citadel with walls and towers clearly visible. Arrive in Gonur Depe. Explore the site. Overnight camping. (B, D)

Day 5, Gonurdepe – Karakum Desert – Ak Molla

Drive through the Karakum Desert, across rough tracks and sand dunes. Stop for lunch and explore the local desert village. Continue desert drive through to Ak Molla. Overnight camping.(B,L,D)

Day 6,  Ak Molla – Darvaza 

Drive through the Karakum Desert to Darvaza, a burning gas crater where flames literally leap from the ground. Stop in the local desert village for lunch and explore the village. Continue drive through Karakum Desert. Arrive at site of big fire gas crater in Darvaza. Sightseeing. Having dinner. Setting up camp here and watch the sun go down, the crater lighting up the night sky with its fires. Overnight camping.(B,L,D)

Day 7, Darvaza – Ashgabat 

Drive to Ashgabat. En route to Ashgabat explore two other old gas craters, first full of water and second the sulfur – muddy. Continue driving. Arrive in Ashgabat. Accommodation in “Ak Altyn” 4* hotel. Overnight. (B)

Day 8, Ashgabat –Kow-ata – Nokhur

Drive to Nohur village. En route visiting of “Kov-Ata” underground lake in Baharly.  This cave impresses with its greatness. A warm hydrogen sulphide lake lies in a cave at the Kopet Dag foothills.  The lake is available all year round because of constant temperature of water (33-37◦C) and air. Continue drive to Nokhur - set 1,100 m above the Garagum Desert in the cool mountain valleys of southwestern Turkmenistan. Arrive in Nokhur. Explore the site. Family stay. (B,L,D)

Nokhur - in many respects an extraordinary culture and region in the western Kopetdag range.  Accented by two small flowing streams, the flora and fauna of this region is exceptional. There are mountain goats (umga and marhur), Urial mountain sheep, wolves, foxes, jackals, porcupines, and even snow leopards in these mountain-ridges. Outstanding carpentry and unusual stone-houses are characteristic for their hillside villages amidst picturesque pomegranate and almond orchards.

Day 9, Nokhur – Balkanabat – Yangikala  

Leave Nohur and drive to Balkanabat. Arrive at site. Having lunch at local restaurant and visit the local bazaar to stock up on supplies to continue the trip to the canyon of Yangikala, home to some of the best scenery in Turkmenistan. Explore the cliffs by foot. When the sun sets drive to the pilgrimage site of Gozli Ata. Overnight at a local pilgrim house (multi-share accommodation) or camping. (B,D)

Day 10, Yangikala – Turkmenbashi – Avaza 

Drive first to the pilgrimage site of Kemal Ata with its interesting volcanic landscape. Explore the site and take lunch. From here continue to the Turkmenbashy city - the biggest port town of Turkmenistan. The town is enclosed with low mountains and faces the Caspian Sea. Arrive at site and drive to Avaza – the most popular Caspian sea resort center (10 km from Turkmenbashi) that is promising much in the future. Overnight at Hotel Seyrana.(B,L)

Day 11, Turkmenbashi – Ashgabat 

Flight to Ashgabat. Accommodation in “Ak Altyn” 4* hotel. Visiting of “Gulistan” (so called Russian bazaar), “Altyn Asyr” shopping center with numerous Turkmen handmade carpet shop, jewelry shops, souvenirs and many others. Overnight at “Ak Altyn” 4* hotel. (B)

Day 12, Ashgabat – departure 

Transfer to the Ashgabat city airport for International departure. Farewell. End of the program
