More than 23 dates of historical and religious character are celebrated in Turkmenistan. Most of them have been originated since the country Independence. The following holidays are especially esteemed:

 January 1 – New Year’s Day.

 January 12 – Memorial Day.

 February 19 – Holiday of the State Flag of Turkmenistan.

 March 8 – the International Woman’s Day.

 March 20, 21, 22 – Nowruz Bairam.

 May 9 – Victory Day.

 May 18 – the Renaissance and Unity Day.

 May 19 – Magtymguly Poetry Day.

 October 6 – Earthquake Victims Memorial Day.

 October 27 – Anniversary of Turkmenistan Independence.

 December 12 – Day of Turkmenistan Neutrality.

 The first Sunday of April – the Water Day.

 The last Sunday of April – the Turkmen Akhalteke Horses Holiday.

 The last Sunday of May – the Turkmen Carpets Holiday.

 The third Sunday of July – the Grain Holiday.

 The second Sunday of August – the Turkmen Melons Holiday. 

 The second Sunday  of September – the Turkmen Bagshy (folk song singers) Holiday.

 November 17 – the Students Day.

 The last Sunday of November – the Harvest Holiday.

 The first Sunday of December – the Neighbor’s Day.

 Moveable according Muslim calendar – the Islamic Holiday Day of Sacrifice (the Kurban Bairam holiday is celebrated for 3 days) and Holiday “Oraza” (the first day of the lunar Bairam month).
